2010 A new year, and a brand new number plate, but the question is what numbers will be used in the 2010 plate?

Number plates have changed every six months to indicate the half year using a zero or a five before the year itself. For example, the first half of 2009 is shown as 09 and the second half as 59.

However this year the final digit can no longer be changed to match the year, but instead it is the initial digit that will be changing too.

From March 2010, the age identifier will be 10, changing to 60 in September 2010 then in March 2011, the age identifier will be 11, changing six months later to 61.

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) say this pattern will continue until all permutations are exhausted.
